Port Coquitlam BC
This three-building, two-phase development occupies 4.4 acres and comprises a 22,000 sqm wood frame structure on a semi-recessed concrete parkade. The project features a mixed-use development that anchors Port Coquitlam’s busy downtown core intersection; the municipality views this project as a precedent for the city’s redevelopment.
Exterior features include brick and limestone cladding, ornamental ironwork, extensive glazing, painted siding, and rustic detailing – all adding heritage sensitivity to an otherwise contemporary design. Laminated glazed canopies create a sheltered pedestrian walkway and generate a human-scale relationship to the elevations. A covered retail breezeway provides a grand formal entrance to the complex, which architecturally ties the structure to the interior of the site and the adjacent buildings.
