Port Coquitlam BC
The building form utilizes an articulated exterior with alternating bay window forms and recessed balconies. Rooflines are also articulated to follow the line of building below. The corners of the building are further enhanced with the introduction of secondary roof gables. Sloped hip roof elements keep the building form compatible with the adjacent mixed residential building forms.
The architectural materials palette used on the exterior is influenced by the character of the neighbourhood with a brick façade to the base of the building. The “craftsman style” uses gable roofs, columns, fibre-cement siding/trims and window/door casings, as well as elaborate wood knee-bracings underneath the roof soffit. A brick archway with a glass canopy help define the building front entry. Its warm earth-tone colours are inspired by other multi-family buildings in the neighbourhood.
